Job Description

Fotografiska, the photography museum, is the Contemporary Museum of Photography, Arts, and Culture. Founded in Stockholm in 2010, the Museum opened a treasured, historic landmark building in NYC’s Flatiron District in 2019. The iconic Stockholm and NYC locations are complemented by expansion in Tallinn, and a forthcoming Berlin Museum set to open in 2023. Fotografiska’s goals are simple: to inspire new perspectives for a more conscious world through the power of photography, to bring people together, and to raise awareness.

The Role

Part of the Fotografiska global team, the Social Media Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the strategy that turns social media into a value center for the business. The role includes management of brand-level social media platforms, analysis of performance to optimize conversion, reach and engagement, and will support creative partners with content strategy rather than creating content.

The Manager will need to extend brand reach and drive awareness of Fotografiska up from local social channels. They should know when expand on successful social tactics at the local level to the advantage of our international positioning. Reporting into the Global Brand Director, and working closely with leadership, the Social Media Manager will partner with local Marketing teams to ensure consistency, impact, and value creation for Fotografiska across all social channels.

  • Execute brand-level social media strategy; where and when required, provide insight and suggestions for refining the brand social strategy to improve performance and impact
    • Includes management of Fotografiska sub-brands: Veronika and Chapel Bar
  • Serve as strategist and gatekeeper of the Fotografiska brand on social media, driving the approach and serving as a key point of contact for all marketing campaigns and company news/updates promoted via social channels
  • Rapidly grow the organic following and viewership of Fotografiska’s content on all social media platforms
  • Create calendars and content ensuring consistency and cohesiveness across all social media channels at the brand-level and in partnership with Marketing + Brand partners to ensure complimentary and cohesive branding between local and global channels
  • Launch branded channel around user-generated content
  • Drive engagement and community management by fostering engagement and building an active online community; this may include responding to comments, messages, and inquiries promptly, fostering meaningful conversations, and implementing strategies to encourage user-generated content and brand advocacy
  • Adapt and tailor brand-level social media content to local markets, as required, considering cultural nuances, local trends, and preferences, while maintaining brand consistency and messaging guidelines
  • Utilize data analytics to drive value through social and leverage analytics tools to gather insights, monitor performance, and identify trends; enable data-driven decision-making for optimizing social media campaigns, which may include:
    • Reach + impressions
    • Engagement
    • Conversion rates
    • CTR, CPC, CPA, etc.
    • Brand mentions and sentiment
  • Measure and report performance by establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly tracking, analyzing, and reporting on social media metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns; provide actionable recommendations for improvement
  • Optimize campaigns through A/B Testing; conduct A/B tests on social media content to identify high-performing variations and continuously optimize campaigns for improved engagement and conversion rates
  • Conduct competitor analysis; monitor and analyze competitors' social media strategies to identify areas of opportunity, benchmark performance, and develop strategies that differentiate Fotografiska internationally and locally
  • Collaborate with local Fotografiska Marketing teams and work closely to understand their goals, objectives, and target audience; when and where necessary, integrate their insights into the overall brand-level social media strategy
  • Under the guidance of the Global Brand Director, when required, manage social media agencys, content and/or creative partners, serving as project manager for global social media initiatives:
  • Manage function-specific questions from local Marketing + Brand leaders, creative talent, and associated agencies; provide mentorship and guidance to ensure success
  • Identify new opportunities for Fotografiska's growth via social media, including new channels, markets, or partnerships, and developing plans to capitalize on these opportunities through the brand lens
  • Ensuring that Fotografiska's values and mission are reflected in all social media marketing activities and initiatives
