KEMIO is seeking a dynamic and experienced networker to fill the position of Head of External Innovation in Computational Biology. This role will be instrumental in co-creating new digital strategies and driving the implementation of the broader Computational Biology roadmap.
In addition, this position will have a direct impact on projects across all global sites in Europe and the US. You will utilise your background and training in Computational Biology to assess the best possible new opportunities and partnerships for this company. Many of these collaborations could be with companies in the UK, Europe, Singapore and US. You should also have the business acumen and mindset to handle a large 7 figure budget, network with the best people in the industry, and expand on current relationships.
This role will work independently, interacting across the entire Computational Biology department, senior leadership team, and digital science.
Tasks amp; responsibilities
• Define strategies for partnership and collaboration opportunities and develop and manage the partnership pipeline in conjunction with the computational biology leadership team.
• Act as a single point of contact and maintain a comprehensive view of potential and existing relationships in collaboration with scouting and awareness functions in other parts of BI.
• Responsible for the establishment, development and ongoing alliance management of computational biology and data science collaborations and external affairs.
• Co-create new digital strategies for computational biology, healthcare analytics and data science externalisation.
• Manage ongoing alliance management with external partners and collaborations.
• Map the external environment and ensure awareness of new opportunities in both academic and industrial environments.
• Act as the primary representative of external opportunities to senior stakeholders, making presentations at all levels of management.
Requirements
• Ph.D. (preferred) or Master's degree with strong life science/computational biology
• Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Extensive experience in business development, building external partnerships and collaborations within computational biology and drug discovery
• Strong knowledge of small/medium biotech organisations and academic groups
• Experience across modern data science approaches such as LLM’s, Machine Learning
• Strong ability to translate ideas into concrete opportunities and drive implementation
• Effective project management, presentation and negotiation skills
• Excellent networking and relationship building skills from top management to all employees
• MBA or equivalent would be ideal but not essential
• Able to travel 10-20% of the time from a main airport in Germany
