Job Description
Resident Advisor is the world’s foremost platform for discovering electronic music, artists and events. Described by the NY Times as the most influential electronic music site in the world, every month RA reaches more than 5m people across its web, mobile and app properties. We are looking for a Mobile Apps Developer who is passionate about electronic music and wants to get involved in creating and improving RA’s products for the electronic music community. RA is able to offer hybrid working, allowing all employees to work both remotely and in the office, encouraging all staff to work from the office at least 3 days per week (prorated). This role is open to both full-time and part-time applicants.
RA provides two cross-platform mobile apps. One is the B2C RA Guide app, which is for customers to browse events and purchase tickets. The other is the B2B RA Ticket Scanner, which is for promoters to scan in tickets and manage their events. This position is for working across both apps and managing a small team of Android and iOS developers.

Key responsibilities:
- Technical ownership of both apps, used by thousands of users every single day
- Producing technical documentation to communicate architectural decisions
- Working with the product and development teams to decide how to implement features
- Working with the design team to produce and implement app-specific designs
- Evaluating new technologies and producing migration pathways to move away from legacy tech
- Collaborating with backend teams to establish API contracts
- Coding directly on features and showcasing best practice code and testing standards
- Line management and development of mobile developers
- Being responsible for team productivity and setting a good release cadence
- Iterating on team process in an agile environment
We’re looking for:
- Extensive experience working in Swift
- Extensive experience working in Kotlin
- Some experience working in React Native
- Some experience working with REST and GraphQL APIs and third-party libraries
- Familiarity with various app architectures and iOS and Android platforms
- Familiarity with app performance, battery usage, and offline-first networking
- Experience in line management or mentoring other developers
- Leading a team of developers working in an agile environment with embedded product managers
- Self-direction and managing your own time to work across various responsibilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and open to giving and receiving feedback
