Job Description
Head of Backend is responsible for leading the engineering team and ensuring that they work efficiently. He is also responsible for setting goals and objectives for the team and ensuring that they are met.
2. Technical Leadership:Head of Backend is responsible for providing technical leadership to the engineering team. Defining technical strategy, setup goals following on it and make sure that teams meet the requirements. He needs to have a good understanding of the latest engineering technologies and practices and be able to apply them to the current company architecture.
3. Product Development and Project Management:Head of Backend is responsible for overseeing the development of the products. He needs to ensure that the product is developed efficiently in terms of budget, met all requirements and completed on time.
4. Hiring and Career growth for engineers:Head of Backend is responsible for recruiting new members to the engineering team and provide clear goals and objectives to ensure they are up to grow in the company according with performance review.
5. Collaboration with other Departments:Head of Backend needs to collaborate with other departments, such as marketing, finance, customer support, internal support, security to ensure that the company's objectives are met.
6. Innovation:Head of Backend needs to be innovative and come up with new ideas, approaches and techniques, that will help the company to grow and develop.
8. Budget planning:Head of Backend is responsible for being budget tolerant in terms of technical resources such as software expenses and IT salaries and has a strategy that outlines a number of ways to scale the technical teams up.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role
- 5+ years experience in a developer position
- Communication skills to supervise staff and work with other managers
- Familiarity with industry development standards and our back-end technology stacks such as AWS, k8s, PostgreSQL, Apache Kafka, Golang, or one of the JVM-based languages
- Proficient in Russian and English languages
