Role: Skilled WooCommerce specialist to set up and configure an online store on an existing WordPress site. Build a reliable, secure e-commerce storefront tailored for the German market, integrating product catalogs, payment and shipping options, and ensuring a user-friendly checkout experience that meets local regulations and customer expectations.

Role: Skilled WooCommerce specialist to set up and configure an online store on an existing WordPress site. Build a reliable, secure e-commerce storefront tailored for the German market, integrating product catalogs, payment and shipping options, and ensuring a user-friendly checkout experience that meets local regulations and customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Set up WooCommerce on the provided WordPress installation, including core configuration, tax settings, currency, and store pages.
- Product import and catalog structure: create product types (simple, variable), import product data (CSV or XML), configure attributes, categories, SKUs, and manage product images with optimized sizes.
- Payment and shipping integration: configure at least one German-compatible payment gateway, set up shipping zones, methods, and rates (including local pickup and carrier integrations if required).
- Optimize checkout and UX: streamline checkout flow and enable guest checkout.
- Configure GDPR/privacy-related plugins and customer data handling best practices for the German/EU market.
- Perform basic security hardening and performance optimization, and document configuration for handover.
What we’re looking for
Must-have:
- Proven experience installing and configuring WooCommerce on WordPress (3+ projects preferred).
- Knowledge of product types: simple, variable, grouped products, and product attribute management.
- Experience importing product catalogs via CSV/XML and managing SKUs and images.
- Familiarity with payment gateway setup compatible with German/EU customers and VAT settings.
- Shipping configuration experience including zones, methods, and carrier integrations.
- Understanding of GDPR/privacy plugin configuration and customer data handling best practices.
- Basic security hardening (SSL, permissions) and performance optimization (caching, image optimization).
- Ability to configure common WooCommerce extensions for inventory, SEO, and analytics; familiarity with staging-to-production workflows.
- Clear documentation and handover skills; ability to train non-technical staff.
