Civil Engineer

B & L Steel Company Inc. Location: Frankfurt am Main, Germany (on-site) Role overview: Support structural and site civil work for industrial and commercial projects. Contribute to planning, design verification, on-site coordination with contractors and ensuring compliance with local building regulations and international steel fabrication standards. Translate design requirements into buildable solutions and support project delivery across industrial and commercial buildings.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead civil engineering tasks for structural foundations, drainage, retaining works and site grading related to steel fabrication facilities and installations.
• Review design drawings, technical specifications and shop drawings to ensure constructability and adherence to applicable codes (German codes, Eurocodes) and company quality standards.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, fabricators, contractors and permitting authorities to resolve technical issues and obtain approvals.
• Prepare construction details, tender/contract documents, engineering calculations and site instructions.
• Provide site supervision, construction quality control and contractor coordination; identify and resolve site issues.
• Support health & safety activities including risk assessments and method statements.

Must-have:

• 3+ years professional experience in civil/site engineering for industrial or commercial structures.
• Proficiency with civil/structural design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or similar CAD software; ability to review shop drawings.
• Strong understanding of German building codes and Eurocode design standards; ability to apply international steel construction requirements.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, construction details, tender/contract documents and site instructions.
• Proven track record in site supervision, construction quality control and contractor coordination.
• Good technical report writing and presentation skills; able to liaise with authorities, clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Fluent English; working knowledge of German preferred for permitting and on-site coordination.
• Familiarity with health & safety regulations on construction sites.
